Sports Psychology

Sports psychology is seen as a link between sports science, sports practice, and psychology. Its main task is the exploration and research of the systematic influence of psychic, psychosomatic and psychosocial factors on the processes of sports exercise.

Promoting research and practice in sports psychology requires mastering and seeking a balance in the athlete's life. This requires an analysis and in-depth knowledge of the athlete's sport environment, physical activity, physiology, and state of health, in addition to training and above all, the close links between these various sectors. This includes those that focus on the practice of sport psychology, and also, those that cover different fields of research in sport and exercise psychology. It concerns children, adolescents, young adults, adults, parents, coaches, high-level athletes in various situations where human beings challenge their limits while respecting their psychic and physical integrity.

In order to exchange and share experiences and research results on all aspects of sports psychology and performance, the Institute of Sports Professions aims to bring together university scientists and researchers to present and discuss innovations, trends and most recent concerns, as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of sports and performance psychology. It is therefore a theme which represents an object of research that sheds light on the importance of psychological issues of sport.

Sports psychology is concerned with the perceptions, thoughts and behavior of elite athletes. It seeks to explain them, anticipate them and, if necessary and desired, to modify and improve them. Accordingly, it calls upon a deep analysis of the uses, practices and effects of psychology that aims to give athletes the means to improve their performance, overcome their emotions, and control themselves in order to enhance their positive development in the field of Sport.
